Motivation

This two-stage exercise is a simple introduction to reflective writing. It requires you to describe ideas about your decision to become a teacher. Let your thoughts develop naturally - don't feel you have to write in a particularly formal style, or even in full sentences.
Write a short piece - perhaps just one or two paragraphs - about your decision to become a teacher. Include any thoughts, feelings or experiences which come to mind.
Next, re-read what you've written. Consider how your thoughts about your career have shifted over time - from the point at which you made the decision to teach, to the present day. How has your perspective on teaching shifted?

  1. BEFORE
My ambition was always to become a teacher. A teacher, who can help build and guide the younger generations. In addition, I also wished for my workplace to have a school identical atmosphere, where every day is different and interactive unlike a desk-based job.
School ambiances contribute us to improve with skills like empathy and give chance to socialize with others. Moreover, it is a place we can learn to interreact with others and solve problems in a more systematic manner.

    AFTER
After few years of teaching, I had the opportunity to work in the management of the school which also interested me as I can contribute to the smooth running of the school. Moving the responsibility to management of school it lessened the work to be taken home. As teaching is very time-consuming job where every day, we must prepare lessons, teach, give feedback, and process repeats. Hence, I preferred working in the management specially after having my own kids, as it was difficult to balance work and the family life.

    1. Hi,
Thank you for sharing your reflections about your decision to become a teacher, and the role you now inhabit.
It is interesting to think that the demands on teachers can outweigh the pressure on school leaders.

      Daniel
